Chapter One
It was a cool misty morning. The trees blended into the mist, like a ghostly tower. The sun was barely up. And the sky was a bright pigment of purple, like a shinning amethyst glowing in the caves. Even in the dead, desert forbidden zone, it was a beautiful sight, in the clear mornings. “Showgo!” I called in an angry voice. “Showgo, you lazy vole! Get up! You’re not a pup anymore; you are a wolf, ever heard of one!” I teased. Showgo rose slowly, and tired like. His eyes looked blood shot, yet still the sightless blue eyes shone. Every time I looked at his eyes I would cringe. I knew when the time came to let him go, his blindness may be a disadvantage.
Showgo’s face grimaced at me. “Milra, it so early, the sun has not even awoke!” He mumbled. “That is no excuse! You know you have to train, so you can be a good hunter, and a fighter. Now let’s go, you need to practice your spin jumps!” I walked out into the early Dawn, out to the Green Wave. Showgo whined, “Why do I even have to do all of this! It’s all nonsense! All this fighting and hunting! Why do I need to do this?” Showgo did not yet know about his journey. I thought not to tell him until it was time. He knew about the stone on his head. But he always thought of it as a part on the wolf body. He padded out into the dawn mist, and ran for Milra. He was blind, but instead of eyes, he uses, scents, sounds, and vibrations running through his feet.
As he ran his pure black fur stood out from all the mist. The stone on his head was a cresset shape, and was pure black, as night at its best hour. He ran for some minuets when he smelled my scent. “There you are! Can’t you go any faster?” He gave me an aggressive look. “I ran as fast as I could! Give me a break Milra!” I made a low growl, but calmed it down quickly. “You need to take this seriously Showgo; you must work hard and respect me.” He felt he had been taken over by me, but he nodded, showing me he understood. “Now imagine I am a tall tree, standing in your way, you will run up it, and swiftly jump of in an Arial flip.” Showgo ran to a tall, beaten tree. He rubbed his paws to the earth, concentrated, and charged. His paws lifted into the air, gracefully, as he ran up the old trunk. He then tossed his head back, and did a whole 360 flip.
He tossed his head in pride. He felt very dominant. “Was that good, or what!” I giggled lowly, in a proud way. “You are doing very well, but you must work harder, now, do it again.” Showgo just grunted at me, and made a low growl. He hated having so much pressure. But he always did his job, whether he liked it or not.
From Dawn, to Dusk, he trained hard, as if there was no tomorrow. But I could not help thinking that he still was not ready. For when he will go to the pack he will have to show his dominance. And he was not strong enough, he would be killed. The thought haunted me; it did for many suns, and moons. I would whimper each night, thinking hard about it. His time was coming soon. I could not believe that his last day he would be here, was in just one round’ moon. But after that, I will not see him for many years. My eyes cried like a river just on the thought. But I finally had to face reality, I had to tell him everything tomorrow…
Showgo awoke the next morning, ready and refreshed. He felt like
He was the top alpha, and he could do anything. But that was all about to change. He was to learn, what he was to do. His emotions were soon going to change. As he walked outside to hunt, the cool breeze ran through is long black hair. When all of the sodden he heard a whisper. “ Showgo…” He turned quickly, and soon heard it again. “Showgo….” He now made a low growl. “Who is there!”
Showgo now herd a vile giggle. “Oh she didn’t tell you. Did she….” She began to make and evil laugh. Showgo became frustrated. “Who are you and what do you want!” She began to make a big smile. “Oh dear boy, no need to be mad, I just want to help you.” The smile on her face made a twisted turn. Showgo became interested. “What do I need help with, and what don’t I know!” She laughed again. Showgo was tired of this. “Tell me now!” He growled. She faced him now. “There are more of you out there, not just you and your dear, so called mother.” He now froze in shock. “You mean, there’s more, wolves like, me!” he said. “Oh yes! Many more! And your family also, too bad they all, died!” He now jumped back in horror. “My, my family!” He growled. “My mother Milra is my family!” he said. “You think Milra is your mother, not at all dear, she is your grandmother, Milra, is you’re…” She didn't finish. Milra jumped in front of Showgo. She growled loudly. ‘Get away you illusion!” At that moment the illusion disappeared into thin air. Showgo then whimpered. “What does she mean more of us, and my family, you’re not my mother! Milra turned as if she had just been condemned. It’s about time I explained things. Follow me.
When we got to the hill my heart thumped like thunder in the night. As we both sat down Showgo looked very concerned. As I opened my mouth two talk I wished that time would stop, but that was not going to happen. “Showgo, I have had to hold this back for so long, you and I are not the only wolves on this island, there are hundreds more.” As I told him this his eyes shimmered in disbelief. I was about to cry, but I continued to speak. “There are three packs, the Fire Opal Pack, the Rising Dawn Pack, and the Shadow Claws pack. Remember the story of the Death Wolf, never go past the brambles, well that not because a wolf is going to eat you, that’s because it leads to the others. We are in an area called the forbidden zone, no one ever comes here because I only know how to survive here.
Showgo looked at me as if I committed a crime. “Why didn’t you tell me more! Why not you tell me now mice can fly!” I made a low whimper. “You would have not understood as a pup.” Showgo growled. “I wish you would have told me!” he said. “ Let me finish.” He clawed to the ground, but stopped speaking. “ The alpha of the Shadow Claws pack, Rose, fell in love with the alpha of the Fire Opal pack, Clive. When she became pregnant, the pack was not happy, so when the pups came, they killed her.” I shook at this moment. “When she had the pups, there were two. The first, was,” I did not want to tell him he had a sister yet. “..Still born, and the next was, you.” He jumped back in shock. “Me! Me! You’re my mother Milra! You are!” I shook my head with a loud whimper. “No Showgo, I am not your mother, I’m your grandmother. Your mother, died, and they would have killed you if you stayed.” I continued to whimper. Showgo stood up. “Well, now that I know all of this, I want to go see it all! There must be a reason to go there!” He growled. I looked at him with sad eyes. That’s not all.”
Showgo growled again. “There’s more! That’s just dam great!” I then continued. “When I came here I had the, stone on your mothers head.” He looked confused. “What stone?” He then realized, and felt his head. “The stone connected to your head, and you have, power….” He starts to cry in frustration. “No! No this is too much! Too much in one day! I can’t take it!” He fell to the ground in a loud cry. I ran over and comforted him. I did not want to tell him what he had to do just yet. He needed time. The whole rest of the day we sat there, just comforting each other. And we sat, just looking at the moon, calmly, into the night.
