BEFORE STORY
Many have told this story, many have claimed they have heard this tale, but now, you can hear this cold, breath taking story from the eyes that have seen life and death.
Many years ago there was a large empty island. The north was covered in mountains, cold as the night itself. The south was filled with hot, steaming hills, as bumpy as a dragon’s back. And the middle is aroused with the wonderful sent of pine forest. This area was called the Long lands.
When our ancestors were created they named themselves the Great pack. They then created the creature known to you as the “wolf”. The Elders say, “The tail was to show subservience or dominance. The legs were to run as fast as wind, or to be as silent as an owl. The Eyes were to show anger, joy, sadness, or any emotion that comes to mind. The fangs existed to help hunger, or strike victims at their coldest hour. The ears could hear like a sly cat listening miles and miles away. The nose was to scent life, death, or the aroma of earth itself. And lastly the heart was to show love or affection to any creature in need.”
Once they decided this they sent 33 non-related wolves down to the Long Lands. The only mistake was that, they were helpless young pups! Some say that they sent down angels and took care for them until they were ‘round eight seasons old, they then erased their memory and left. When they were all alone they started to become dominant, aggressive, and blood thirsty. They fought over mates and killed randomly. Territory became a problem and cut off all boundaries. The wolves who were once friends were now enemies. One night they all decided to have one battle to settle this all. Whoever was not dead was worthy to be an Alpha. Once the fight started, it ended almost as fast. An old wise female wolf that was once alive came down. Everybody fell into a deep sleep and listened. The wolf spoke in a powerful, yet beautiful and soft voice, “All crimson tears or no tears at all! You must stop this fighting at once or you are all dead meat! Your pups will die at birth, your friends will disappear from your eyes, you will be hurt physically, and emotionally.”
Her blue eyes suddenly turned to a fiery coated wolf. \His eyes gleamed like lightning strikes, and his fur was a reddish orange like fire burning in the distance. “Opal!” She called. Time went by but moments later he padded to the front in a cautious way. His eyes turned to her slowly and then he sat in a sturdy position. “Dawn!” she called. A Creamy brown female wolf padded up to the front. Her eyes were a light bluish purple as dawn itself. Her fur matched the brambles in the deepest forest. She looked confused at her but stayed calm. “Claw!” A dark black wolf came barging out in a greedy way, his eyes were dark green and his fur was useable at night.
She then spoke in a loud voice, “You have all been chosen by the Great Pack to lead three packs.” Her eyes turned around as a bright light came floating down, so bright it was blinding for some moments. Then she held it in her paws. “Each piece of this stone will link to your forehead connecting to your mind like one, it gives you power of a leader.”
One of the stones then floated to Opal. It shone like the bright fire on a hill in front of a sunset. It touched his head and shone with power, one moment later, it was on his head. Opal bowed his head and sat. “Your pack shall be named from this day on Fire Opal Pack! You shall live in the south and protect your territory. Live well and long.” Opal then showed pride in his eyes. “I will.” He said.
She carefully lifted the next stone to Claw; its color was so dark, yet shone brightly in the moonlight. It finial connected to his head and he soon had power. “Your pack shall be known now as the Silent Claws Pack! You shall live in the north and guard it well.” Claw then showed affection in his eyes, like he never had before. He had not always been angry; he was just treated badly because he could not speak. When it came to howling he could not. Then lastly a stone came up to Dawn. The color was a bright purple like a beautiful amethyst. Before she took it she spoke. “Why me, I’m a female, I can’t be a pack Alpha!” The spirit then said, “You can if you trust yourself, it doesn’t matter what gender you are, it just matters about how good of a wolf you are.” Dawn then smiled and took the stone. She now had the power of a leader.
“You will lead your pack which will now be known as, Rising Dawn Pack! You will take the middle of the Long Lands and lead your pack well.” Dawn slowly and honorably bowed and sat with the others.
She then spoke in a strong voice; “You are now Alpha male-Opal, Alpha male-Claw, and Alpha female- Dawn! All wolves who go on Opal side please come up!” 10 wolves came up. “Now for Claw.” At first no one went, but then a few did, 10. 3 were UN- speaks like him. “Now Dawn.” The remaining 10 went on her side quickly. “You must all respect your leaders and set boundaries. If you choose to fight again hundreds of times you will know we are angry. You will fight at some points in time, but just remember to mind your own territory.” “May the Great pack be with you.” She powerfully stretched out a large amount of blinding light and, it was all over.
When all awoke, the leaders stood for many moments, thinking of their future, and what they will do. They all confusingly walked their separate ways to the north, middle, and south, and began life, as an Alpha.
Now, I think you want to know what this story really is about. Let me introduce myself. I am Milra, former Silent Claws Pack, and now gone to live with the Great Pack. When I was young I had a daughter, her name was Rose. She had beautiful blue eyes and silky red fur. She was the best thing that had happened to me. She was my world. When she got old enough to be independent, our leader had chosen her to be next in line to be the Alpha. When that time came, she was tested to make sure she was dominant. If she could, the stone would link to her. She fought all night, against the fiercest wolves, but she made it. When she defeated the last wolf, an angel came down and gave her the stone. She was the Alpha. Her Pack now had to respect her in all ways, and she was a reason to respect.
One day, a scrawny young wolf had gone into their territory steeling food. The Fire Opal Pack was running out of food. In the summer all prey goes toward the north. In the winter the Opal pack get prey, but as for the Silent Claws Pack, they could fish as well. So the Opal pack became jealous of our techniques and took action. One wolf came, and just as quickly another, soon, it became a battle. Alpha-Rose sent out her wolves and ran off into the night, knowing she might die. But what she didn’t know, was that she was to meet her mate.
As they came to the border of their lands, the moon rose high, and many believe it turned red. Suddenly, a yowl came out, then another, soon, the battle had begun. Confused and afraid, she ran to find the Alpha. Her paws trembled as she ran through spilling blood from innocent wolves losing their lives. But soon, it became quiet, too quiet… She suddenly scented an odd scent; it smelled like, the Alpha! She quickly shot around to find herself at the target of a pounce. She tried to dodge the attack but, it was too late, he had locked her in a position so he could bite. His eyes were red, like a shinning fire. Her eyes were blue, like the clear aqua ocean. Together, they were like yin, and yang. In just one look, he knew, he loved her, and she loved him. His name was Alpha-Clive. That night he sent his pack home. Many were confused why; all he said that there was too many lives lost and they would have lost. Many began to believe he did not trust his pack. Back at Silent Claws pack her pack disagreed with Rose as well. She was sending food to the other pack and wolves thought something was fishy. I myself at the time did not know either but soon discovered that she was meeting with the Alpha every day, they were mates. Every day I told her that she had to stop before the pack found out, but I was too late, she was expecting pups. When the pack saw that she was expecting they wanted to know who the mate was. She told them, and they were furious. Love is a wonderful thing, but can change others trust. Only the healing wolf agreed to labor the cubs. She had a kind heart.
So on that same day the cubs came, like any other time.
And on that day she also knew, her pack would never trust her again. That night a dominant wolf came in. He was sneaky and truly evil on the inside. I wish I was awake to save my daughter. He wanted to be the Alpha so bad, too bad, he gave her some deadly berries, and it was all over, she was dead. When I awoke that day I saw that she was dead, and, that was the first time I had ever been truly heartbroken, I can never feel the same happiness ever again. I was a shadow.
But that didn’t stop me. I quickly took action and found the stone. I knew that the evil wolf was going to take it, so I took it. Suddenly I realized that I could not leave the pups here. They would have been killed immediately. If the pack disliked the cubs they could easily kill them. So it was decided. I was to run off with the cubs, to the forbidden zone. This was a zone where no wolves came out, except of course my dad; he was the first to discover it with other wolves along his side. Only he though came back with no wounds, and more wisdom. When he came back he had told me that there was a small den under the big oak tree. He said that if there was any danger I could run here and stay there as long as I needed to. He also told me about the things called “Illusions”. Illusions were there creatures that made you trust them and they then led you to death. My father’s best friend saw one and fell in love with the illusion, it was almost like his friend was under a spell. The illusion took him to a cliff, and, well you can guess what happened next. He told me to never look at illusions and if you do, run, run as far as you can. He said they look like normal wolves, but more ghostly like. They can either be loved ones that died, or a random wolf that may seem attractive.
I took a glance at the two pups and saw that one of the wolves had oddly blue eyes. I looked at the pup more carefully, and as I moved my head he showed no emotion. He was very small and was weak, and I knew, he was blind. I knew all wolves that were blind usually did not live long, but I had hope. The other wolf was a perfect young female that looked strong and fierce. As I walked out of the den one of my friends came up, her eyes looked confused and concerned, I can remember those pure blue eyes become ice cold with tears. I looked in her paws, and a saw a dead pup, her pup had died. She told me it was the only pup left, and he died. I then connected my eyes to her and looked at the healthy pup I had. I handed to her and said, “Take her and raise her as your own, tell no one it is my daughters pup, and may that you two have a perfect life, good bye.” And I walked into the brush, knowing I would never see her again. If I had said more it would be harder on her. It was as if I had lost a heart, lost a daughter, and friends, but yet I gained a new heart that was in my paws.
I ran through the night like an owl soaring through the woods, my pack was very fast and quiet which gave me an advantage. Once I came to the undergrowth tunnels the pup started to whine, I knew I had to get there fast. I went through the tunnels and the ridges, the whole time carrying that one pup. And finally, I was at the entrance of the forbidden zone, Thorns were all around it and there were scents of victims every where… But I just remembered what my father had said. “If you believe that you are who you are, an illusion can never pass your heart.” The second I took a step in the forbidden zone, white flashed around me. A bright wolf came up to me, her eyes pure blue and her pelt was a glowing red, I knew who it was, “Rose! Rose it is you!” Her eyes became filled with tears and mine did the same.
“Mother I am sorry for leaving you, but I have come to give you a message, not to have a reunion.” I realized how much she had grown up, and it hurt, but I knew I had to be serious. “A young sightless child will come to this world, he will be in darkness, but his heart will have the cure, to the crimson. He shall go from pack to pack, learning the techniques, and finding the element of love…. Then he shall end the crimson before it falls and takes over the hearts of all. And Peace will come again.” Rose began to glow bright white as she said these last words. “I grant this pup the power of an Alpha, may the stone touch his head, and from then on, he shall have the power of the gods! SHOWGO!” The stone then rose in the air like an angel, and it floated right to his head. It connected to him, like the sun, and the moon, and the bright glowing aroma ended. I looked at Showgo in amazement. My eyes started to glow in hope, like crystals shimmering in the light. My daughter’s spirit then spoke. “My mother, dearest to my heart, take care of him till he is one year old. Then send him on his way to his father’s pack, from then on only the Sky pack can know what is to happen, but he will always be guarded by us, when the time comes to battle, we will be protecting him like a metal shield tough enough to break the gate to heaven. Good bye my mother, may you both live beyond the stars.” Her body then raised into the bright stary night, just like the perfect angel I always knew her as.
At that moment I realized that she was not just on a journey, she was gone. I then broke a rule that was never even seen in a pack. I broke down, and cried. In packs you were taught not to cry over the loss of a child. If they did not survive the harsh winters, they were not worthy to whimper over. I then did one big last lonely howl into the night. So loud that the stars may have shacked and fallen down along with my heart. But there was one last hope in my life that I had, and it was Showgo. I looked at the pup, and said to him as calmly as the wind, “I will do everything to protect you, even if it takes my life, because I love you more that any one in Sky pack will ever know!” I was prepared to die, but I would not, until this pup was grown and ready to fight, this wolf was not to budge, and be as strong as a stone. This is not just any story you will read in a book, this is not a nursery tale; this is the legend of Showgo, the wolf who saved us all. I then walked into the forbidden zone, one paw only, yet at that moment, I knew my life was to change forever. I was leaving my pack, my home, my friends, and my family, but I was beginning a new heart. For my life, was right here in my paws. As the sun began to raise, my shadow, disappeared into the night. With only my heart, and a this only legend. “May Sky pack protect us all!”
